Over 800 people a year are paralysed in the UK and too many of these are
from horse riding accidents. Paralysis does not only mean being unable to
walk, but depending on the part of the spinal cord that is injured it can
cause loss of movement in arms and hands, the inability to breathe on your
own and perhaps the worst of all, the loss of independence.
"During my eventing career I was very fortunate not to have a really serious
accident. Sadly not everyone is as lucky as I was and failing to finish the
course that day is the least of their problems. Some 800 people in the UK
every year are left in a wheelchair, or worse. I decided to support Spinal
Research to give paralysed people hope for the future - please get involved
and do the same." Ginny Elliot MBE Saddle Up Patron
