Claire Lomas completes 400-mile cycle challenge to raise vital funds for research

Date: May 13, 2013

Inspirational fundraiser Claire Lomas has completed her second extraordinary challenge this spring to raise vital funds for research into spinal cord repair. Claire crossed the finish line at the London Eye at 12.30 on Monday – raising more than £73,400! Well done and thank you Claire!

Claire completed the Virgin London Marathon last April, despite being paralysed from the chest down. Using a ReWalk robotic suit, Claire crossed the finishing line after 16 gruelling days and raised over £200,000 for Spinal Research.

This new challenge saw Claire hand cycle 400 miles across England, stopping at schools and organisations along the way to inspire others to take on their own challenges in life.

Claire said: “Over the course of my challenge, I visited as many schools as possible to talk to the children about the impact my spinal cord injury has had on my life, how I have managed to rebuild my life and the 16-day Marathon! I hoped to encourage them to believe in themselves and set their own personal goals.
